The resulting overdrive and feedback blotted out three guitars and drums leaving just me and the bass in a body pummelling groove. I thought that sound was lost in time, but it’s possible once more and at much lower volumes with the Prepared Pianet. Yes, it's another electric piano, but this one is different (obvs), it sounds 'like' an electric piano, it carries the memory of electric piano-ness, but it also has its own unique sound that means it can function like an electric piano but without carrying the usual electric piano baggage. At the rougher, more 'organic' end of the electric piano spectrum, a real fully working Wurlitzer is a rare and wonderful beast. This Wurlitzer 200 is particularly special, it belongs to ex Sheryl Crowe, Oasis and current Noel G keyboard player Mikey Rowe, and it can be heard on records by all of the above. It also has the rare tremolo speed mod, so it does things that most Wurlis can only dream of. Wurlitzer Toolkit is recorded/misused in 4 different ways and then poured into 4 different instances of an expanded version of the DRIFT engine. It emanates beautiful organic textures and mellow cinematics with a subtle suggestion of a charming and melancholic nostalgia. This could be your new secret weapon for cool, edgy, cinematic, organic and otherworldly gorgeousness (that sounds a bit electric piano-ish.) *Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, The Beatles, Beck, Queen, Supertramp, Steely Dan etc etc... mid the INSTRUMENTS FOUR WAYS OF MESSING UP A CLASSIC BAD WURLITZER Pushed through the terrible live pitch shifting algorithm of an AKAI MPC 100. Pitched down it sounds rather wonderful. 12 velocity layers ranging from one octave down to one semitone down CHAOTIC WURLITZER Trem speed knobs wiggled in real time. Chaotic Wurlitzer has 3 velocity layers where every note has differently evolving wobble speed - speeding up, slowing down - whatever took my fancy at that moment. FUZZY WURLITZER Each note is recorded through the Dust Cloud Drive pedal by SzCz. This is a gorgeous and brutal custom pedal made with salvaged original parts based on an Arbiter Fuzz Face.
